is one of the countries that targets the electrification ratio to be 100% by
2022, because electricity demand is projected to increase more than 7-fold by
2050 (Anindhita et
al., 2018). Therefore, the government needs to build a power plant to increase
electricity supply. However, most of the power plant development in Indonesia
is still based on fossil energy, the percentage is 88% (ESDM, 2015). But According to BPPT, the fossil energy
will be extinct such as for example oil within 12 years, 37 years of natural
gas and 70 years of coal. In addition, fossil-based power plants are one of the
largest contributors to emissions. This sector became the second largest
contributor with total emissions of 31.93 percent.
So from these problems, it is necessary to create innovation in the field of renewable energy for electricity generation. Innovation in these fields is also in line with the concept SDGs in point 7 about affordable and clean energy which contains about ensuring access to affordable and environmentally friendly energy for all.
One potential that can be used in generating electricity is in multi-storey buildings through footing on stairs. Because the construction of buildings in Indonesia is increasing, and there is less vacant land (CTBUH, 2016).
Therefore, from the challenges and potential related to renewable energy come the title of DOLAR ENERGY (Double Generator Spring Stair and Solar Energy). DOLAR ENERGY is a renewable energy innovation that utilize the hybrid system method using the Grid Inverter and Parallel Batteries between the mechanical energy from the steps and the sun to increase the amount of electrical energy generated. From the test data, the Double Spring Star Generator that uses footing on the stairs produces 3.35 watts of electrical energy in one step, resulting in one day generating 3.3 Kw with 1,000 steps per day. Then, solar panels that are used will be able to produce electrical energy of up to 65.6 watts per day. So, the DOLAR ENERGY hybrid result can produce electrical energy up to 3.36 Kw in one day and the potential can produce electricity to supply 10 lamp with a duration of 6 hours using a 10 watt DC lamp. From the results of these tests, it is expected that DOLAR ENERGY can be an electrical energy solution in each storey building in Indonesia.
